Hi Monica! My husband and I have been going thru a financial challenge too. He is a carpenter and the house we are living in now was meant for re-sale and we never intended to be making these big house payments for this long.{ the house has been up for sale for about two years now}. Some books I read by suze orman really helped me alot. She talks about setting time aside weekly and brainstorming to come up with creative ways to save money. We have been doing alot of that and I am so grateful. Because with all of our budgeting we have managed to make the payments and are not in any danger of foreclosure like so many are. One thing we havn't given up tho is a daily 4 0z glass of wine. I and my husband sip it slo and enjoy. Some of the creative ways we have come up with to save money are as follows: I and my husband groom our dogs {2 bichons} instead of taking them to the groomer. This save about 40 dollars a month or about 500. dollars a year. Also I gave up the Turner classic movie channel that I liked to go to a lower rate on our satellite service. We used to pay 60 dollars a month, now we pay 30. What suze orman said in her book "courage to be rich" really helped me, about taking time weekly and really thinking about it. Before I tried that it seemed I would just think to myself, there is no way we can save any money anywhere! I had a negative attitude without realizing it! We have found lot's of ways and I am still committed to trying to find more ways. Being short financially is not fun. Proper money management is really important! I sure am seeing the lite with this at this time of my life and for that I am very grateful. Sounds like you are doing just the right thing about thinking twice about buying stuff! Suze Orman would definitely approve! Laurie
