Warning:  rant ahead

I know I am fortunate to have a job.  I am thankful for it every single day.  It is frustrating, though, to not get ahead like I did last year.  This year there were no raises given out because of the economy plus everyone was furloughed.  My employer announced yesterday that there will be no raises next year and the furlough will be repeated.

To make matters worse, my health insurance premiums are increasing come January.  Also, my auto insurance is going up $17 per month due to a "statewide increase."  I have obtained quotes from other companies and this rate is still the best.

I am just feeling exasperated today.

Robyn

I know how you feel...no raises here either. Thankfully they managed to keep my ins rates the same though. It is so frustrating to pay more at the grocery store and for utilities but no raise at work!!

It sure would be easy if we had no debt!! At this rate though I don't know if I'll ever make it to that.

Thankful for my job.....

Michelle

Hugs. I'm sorry and that stinks.

I know its hard to get ahead when there is no increase in pay and there is an increase in everyday expenses.

The best you can hope for is that after the economy picks up a bit you will get a raise and it will be worth the wait!

Dear Fab,

I hear you...I feel like I'm getting nowhere, but I am grateful to have a job.  I continue to "maintain",,,that's about all.  Next year is not going to be finanacially fun.  I do know that we will probably be getting some kind of increases because the business is doing well.  I have some large expenses coming up next year including trying to pay down the debt, but I don't think the increases suggested so far will cover everything.  2010 is going to be challenging...Our insurance premiums did not go up, but the coinsurance did, so getting sick is going to be very expensive.

Let's continue to hang in there and get creative and more thrifty......

LB,

Boy, you sure do know how I feel.  It's going to be an expensive year for me, too, including plugging away at the debt.  Our house is getting to the point where some of the original equipment (A/C, furnace, etc.) is in need of being replaced.

I understand "taking one for the team" but it's still a little frustrating to have no raise.  My division is making money but most in the company are not.  The furlough and the no raise rules are even across the board.

You're right, that's exactly what we should do...hang in there and get more creative/thrifty.  I'm all for that.

Have a great Sunday,

Robyn
