I have been on a long hiatus from graphics and siggy making, which I used to do as a hobby. I used to use CS2, but have now upgraded to CS4 to do some logo work.

Why can't I figure out how to draw a line graphic!? I want to draw an ECG graphic (you know, your heart line while it's beating), but the only way I know to get straight lines is to use the path tool. But then when I try to get to blending options, it's not technically a graphic, but a path, so I can't trick it out.

Am I missing something!? Attached is an example of what I want to draw on my own. Any advice is appreciated!

Hi.
If you're wanting a straight line, why not use Rectangular Marquee Tool (RMT)?
Please forgive me if this becomes detailed:

In Photoshop CS4 go to Windows in the Menu Bar.
Click on Tools to display the Tools bar
Click on Options to display the Options bar.
Click on the Rectangular Marquee Tool located on the Tools bar.
Select your parameters (i.e. how much you want the edges to Feather, any colors and gradients.
Create your line.

If you use the line tool then you can't use the gradients because it can't "fill" the line with color. But if you use the RMT tool then PS will see it has having "internal" space. Hope this makes sense.
