I am 52 years old and already have 5 kids ranging in age from 23 to13.  Now  I feel like I am pregnant again, after having my tubes tied after the birth of my 13 year old, 13 years ago.  I have also been diagnosed as menopausal.  All my pregnancy tests have come back negative but my midwife thinks I am pregnant with twins.  Can anyone  relate?

Here is some more information.......On August 5th I went to  a health clinic and had another urine pregnancy test done. It came back negative.  That afternoon I had a visit from a neighbor's friend who is a retired Rn/midwife. She used a stethescope and idenified a heartbeat.  and thought she felt movement on the otherside.  At this point we agreed that I was roughly 16 weeks pregnant.

How late are you?  I can't imagine a midwife diagnosing twins this early on, especially if your pregnancy tests have all been negative.  While many people get an early pregnancy negative, there is no way your midwife could know you are having twins if it is so early that you don't even have a positive pee test.  Given your history as you set it out, I think it is very, very unlikely you are pregnant.  I hope this is good news...

Hello.  Without a blood test, you'll never be sure.  Go get a blood test done so you know for sure.  What makes your midwife think you're pregnant with twins if all the urine tests are negative for HCG?

sorry!  I'm really new to these message board things.  I'm not sure if I am responding right but here goes anyway.  At this point I am 25 weeks along and still haven't had a positive pregnancy test.  Being I have been diagnosed as menopausal I am wondering if that is messing up the results.
