Hi, I'm Linda.  I'm 40 and I am expecting my fourth baby just before Easter next year.

I have 2 sons, 8.5 and 4 and a 7-year-old daughter.  We just told them and they are very excited.  Well, I'm not sure my 8-year-old quite believes me.  I am almost 17 weeks but not showing much yet.  I'm tall and narrow and I never show at this point.

I felt pretty awful during the first trimester, but I feel great now.  I've had the AFP and NT test and my doctor recommended skipping the amnio, so I guess I will.  It's funny, when I had my third child at age 36 I felt like my OB's office treated me like a dinosaur.  This time I'll be 41 and they haven't said a thing beyond sending me for genetic counseling.  It's a nice change!

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Linda

Congrats!  My LO was born last February when I was 42.  I joined a local new mommy group and expected to feel like a grandma but oddly enough, most of the women are late thirties to early forties and two are even older than me!  The weirdo in the group is the mom who is only 28!  I guess 40 is the new 35.

Hi Linda and welcome!  I am 42 and also due in April, 16 weeks along so we are close in our due dates.  I have a 9 year old daughter and 7 year old son.  I am also not showing being tall and thin too, I just have a little lower belly swell like I ate a big lunch! I haven't gained any weight yet and am still feeling pretty sick most days, which is usual for me until about the 5th month.  I'm glad you are feeling better.

We haven't told  many people yet as we are doing amnio next week.  (I am being treated as a quite ancient high risk mother which I hate, so I'm glad you are having better treatment.)  I can't wait to tell my kids as I know they will be thrilled--how did yours react?

Looking forward to chatting through our remaining months here!

Kristin

Hi Kristin,

My kids were thrilled.  My older son just kept laughing hysterically and asking if I was kidding.  My younger son I don't think quite gets it, he pretty much parroted his brother.  My daughter was very excited.  She's the one spreading the news around town.  She is demanding a sister, though, and I suspect she may be disappointed on that count.

I'm sorry you still feel queasy.  Isn't it awful?  I was sick until 12 weeks, just like with the others, then it vanished.

Linda
