I've seen this story crop up a few times in the last couple of days.  I think it's an interesting ad campaign.  The Big Apple Coalition of Reason is running a month long ad campaign in NYC subway stations using the slogan, "A Million New Yorkers Are Good Without God. Are You?"

Here is the blog posting from the NY Times:  http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/10/19/good-without-god-atheist-subway-ads-proclaim/

And the CNN article: http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/10/21/new.york.subway.ads/index.html

I haven't personally seen the ad campaign, but I think anything that gets the word out is good especially since I do believe that atheists, in general, are misunderstood by many.  I also think it's cool that it lets atheists know there are others who share the same views and there's a national organization with local representation out there for them.

I've seen a news story about the "Good Without God" campaigns on the NY buses. As well as the retaliatory ones. I'm happy to see the NY folks keeping up the momentum of their message.

I'm always happy to see goodness and light being sown without a deity.

I could never see a campaign like that flying in the South.  But I do hope it raises the awareness that there are many people out there who aren't Christian, whether it's a Buddhist, Muslim, or Atheist.

It wouldn't fly in St. Louis either...but I would LOVE to see it tried out here! I mean, most of my friends are atheists or freethinkers!

Not only would this message not fly in KY but the person who suggested it would probably be burned as a Witch...heavy sigh. Our Governor recently announced that the state will call their Christmas Tree a "Holiday" Tree this year. All of the Christians are freaking out and calling it an affront to Christianity. It would be pointless to bring to light the fact that the tree is a Pagan symbol to begin with. Again, I am happy that I live in Louisville. At least there are more open thinkers here than in any other part of the state.

At any rate, I am glad to see a start of there being more acceptance to the very idea that one could go through life NOT believing and still be just fine.
