My mom and I are really close.  She tells me what a good mother I am and how I am lucky I am because parents know so much more about child development today.  She sees AP as the way things should be.  She did CIO with my brother and me and she says to this day she still feels bad about it.She tells both of us to pick up our crying babies and that you can't spoil babies with holding them!  When Sophie fusses she says over the phone, you better go pick her up!  It's nice having her support.  How does your family support your AP methods?

My mom is completely on board. She APed us, although she didn't wear us and she tried to get us in the crib. My dad doesn't get it. He doesn't outright suggest CIO, but does say I spoil her by not letting her fuss or pick her up when she wants. And he keeps asking when I'm going to set up a crib. He seems incapable of understanding that I like sleeping with her. But he has never commented on extended breastfeeding. He seems t get that. DH is on board because he sees that she needs it and thrives on it. He has actually said that he doesn't understand how anyone could do anything other than AP because everything else is so mean.

My mom is super supportive of BFing...but I do know that as soon as he turns one, she'll be pressuring me to wean because that's what she did.  We'll cross that bridge when we get there, I guess.  She's also very pro co-sleeping.  We have Luke sleeping in his crib right next to the bed and according to her, even that is too much separation!  I think her parenting style was very much AP, just because that's what everyone around her did (I grew up in India), so it's natural to her that we would do the same things.

That's awesome, Steph! I didn't get much encouragement or negativity from my family or friends. They know I wouldn't listen to them anyhow. Hehehe

Hi Jenny!

That's great that your DH is so onboard with AP! Gina is just adorable. :)
