Hey there. I'm Serena, mama to Michael who turned two on Halloween and is autistic. I'm looking for an active message board with parents of autistic children. I was pretty active with ivillage during my ttc days as well as the first year and a half of Michael's life (until everything hit the fan), and I'd love to see this board be more active.....but since it's not, are there boards out there that are good resources for moms like me who are new to autism and are looking for info and help for their newly diagnosed kiddos?

Hello and welcome to the board. This board seems to ebb and flow....sometimes it is really busy and other times...not so much. The nice thing about this board is the lady's are super knowledgeable in autism...and have been very helpful when it comes to issues with my son.

There is also another board on here that is a little more active. It's the pdd-nos board. I posted there when my son was first dx'd with classic autism...since then his dx has been changed to pdd-nos.

There are tons of other message boards out there. I think there is one at cafe moms for autism.

Sorry I can't help you more. I do want to encourage you to stick around here. Like I said...the gals on here are a wealth of knowledge.

I spent 30 minutes the other day writing out this well thought out response, and reintroducing myself to the board (I came here before diagnosis), but Michael leaned on the keys while trying to climb into my lap, and poof! Gone!

I'd love to see this board reinfused with chatter. I really could use some parents in similar situations to bounce things off of. I'm dealing with a dilemma right now with Michael's new O/T, but I just posted about that on the sensory board. Otherwise, it would be nice to just share small steps forward, and ask about remedies for the steps back. Hopefully, some more moms will come back out of the wood work and chime in.
