Homemade Baby Food

Has anyone heard about this cool new thing that you can just put avocados or strawberries or whatever into and it mashes it up exactly to your baby's weaning stage? I just read about it here

I've never heard of it but looking at it on a few websites I don't think it's any different than just mashing it up with a fork (except for the price- $30 average).  Every baby is different and you would be better able to tell what stage your child is at in regards to the "chunkiness" level of what the food should be.
