Good Morning Im 45 and going in for a c-section next week I have tried to breastfeed all 3 of my other children and end up stopping due to flat nipples, I have worked on them through this pregnancy and they have come out a bit and am will and ready to try, had alot of pain and discomfort in the past, but this time alot of stress in my life . So open for thoughts and tips will see a lactation nurse in hospital always do but since this is the last baby want it to be special.... Thanks for your comments

I would recommend renting a hospital-grade pump from the hospital.  The lactation consultant can set you up.  The suction can help pull your nipples out a bit before your baby tries to latch on, AND you can get a lot more pumped milk for your baby as well which is a win-win.  Get the contact number for this person so you can stay in touch.  You can also get lactation help from La Leche League in your area:

Wearing breast shells before breastfeeding can help too, here is a link about flat and inverted nipples with articles with specific tips.

I know you have had bad experiences, but you can do this - especially if you relax and let the baby do what comes naturally.  When you are tense, baby is too!  Congratulations and good luck.  You are obviously a great mom and an inspiration too.  Take care of you!

Thank You for your advice called the hospital and did get an electric pump to rent, I do use the breast shields, now I sit and wait until next week, can't wait to have baby in arms and try, and thank you for your support I am determend to do this right this time. Thanks Agian
