My name is Poppy, and I am an Indonesian currently living in Indonesia. I spent part of my childhood and and my adult years abroad, which explains the cultural confusion up there in my brain.

I'm single with no kids, but my nephew (Mr. Don't Hug Me In Public) and I are close. We see each other nearly every day and he makes me laugh (he has also turned some of my hair white). Over the years my friends' kids have made me very happy by considering me their aunt. It's a huge pleasure seeing them grow up.

After a hiatus of more than 2 years because I was caring for my parents, I've started to work as a consultant for a newspaper. It's scary because I've never worked in this industry before apart from a couple writing stints in the past, and a bit daunting since there are weekly deadlines (I hate deadlines) but it ought to be an interesting experience since we're overhauling the paper's food section. Yum!

Who's next?

Ok, Poppy I’ll go next.  For some reason I always hate to be first.  rofl

I’m Tulip the community leader for Bilingual Families.  I’ve been living outside my home country for many years, we speak English and Turkish, I have one DS, one rabbit and one dog, and I’m a SAHM.

I've been dreaming of going to Turkey. Sigh. I think I am beginning to have the wanderlust again.

It would also be interesting to go to another country where the majority of the population is Muslim but the country itself is not Muslim. Because, contrary to what newspapers say about Indonesia, we are not a Muslim country. We are the country with the biggest population of Muslims but constitutionally we're not a Muslim one and I would like people to keep that in mind.
