Because I'm new here I'd love to hear some birth stories! I'm due on 02/06/10 so I'm always anxious wondering if my birth with her is going to be the same as it was with my son so I'd love to hear everyone's stories!

Great idea! I am always up for a little birth talk lol. I copied this from the birth announcement post in my birth club. Don't forget to share your story as well.

On the 16th I had an appointment for a non-stress test at the hospital to check on the baby, since I was given two due dates, the first being the 9th, my doctor wanted to make sure he was still getting oxygen and not in any distress. So I went to the hospital at 10am, expecting to stay there for an hour for the test and go home and wait many more days for my little one to come. Well the baby was doing fine, everything with him was good, but my blood pressure was high. So my doctor checked me and my cervix was still very high and hard, and she said it was "unfavorable". So she put the gel in me to soften my cervix, and told me that usually it doesn't work the first time, but she was going to try it and see. They decided to keep me overnight to watch my blood pressure, so off I go to a room expecting a very dull and boring night. At around 2:30 I started to feel contractions about every 2 minutes, but they aren't very strong, so I don't think to much of it, but continue to time. At 4:30 they started to get pretty intense and close together, so I have the nurse check me and sure enough I am 3-4 cm dialated. They bring me to a labour and delivery room and my doctor checks me pretty much as soon as I get there and I am 6 cms dialated already. My contractions hit me really hard, with no break in between them, just one on top of another, and I dialated very quickly. When I got to 9 cms. I had such a strong urge to push, but I obviously couldn't, so when my doctor got there and told me I was 10 cms and could start pushing I was thrilled! I pushed for I think 15 mins. and out came my baby boy! I did it all naturally with no medication and am so happy that I did.

He was born at 7:02 pm, February 16th 2008.

I will start off with my son's birth. I wasn't due until March 14th, 2008 but I woke up early the morning of March 3rd and I had this intense urge to have to go to the washroom (#2) so I went to the washroom but nothing was happening but I was having what I thought were pains from not being able to actually go to the washroom so I went back to bed and the cramping was still intense so I figured I'd trying again my DH was swearing up and down the whole time that I was going into labour but I didn't pay him any attention now that I look back on it, I was clearly in denial lol!! So basically I wasn't getting anywhere back and fourth from the washroom so I took a shower and the cramping was getting worse and my DH convinced me to go to the hospital. I remember during the car ride I was feeling anxious thinking they were going to send me home and I was going to feel so guilty for wasting everyone's time lol but we go to the hospital got checked in and hooked up to the monitors and I had my examination and I was 4 cm dilated already! I was shocked. The really pain started kicking in almost 45 minutes after we arrived to the hospital I got my epidural when I was around 5 cms if I remember some parts are blurry to me the pain took over every part of me at times lol. So I got the epi and about 1.5 hours after I received it i was examined again was fully dialated but noticed I could still feel EVERYTHING on my left side! I was freaking out I was telling the nurses that I wasn't fully numb but at that point I just want the baby out! I pushed for 50 mins and wasn't getting anywhere  and the baby's heart rated started to drop so the doctor had to do a midline incision episiotomy about an inch long and while I pushed used forceps to try and manipulate the baby's head out and low and behold it worked! once he was out I was relieved of the pain instantly (awesome feeling!) Khenan Prince was born at 2:14pm DH cut the cord Khenan was weighed and came in at 6lbs 4oz 19 inches he had a full head of dark brown curly hair and was perfect! His poor head was swollen and very large for a few days after the poor thing! Now he is a hyper 18 month old he is the funniest person I know this kid has the best personality!

I'm very excited and nervous to see how my labour and delivery goes in February hopfully along the same lines minus a few parts!! lol

Can't wait to hear everyone else's stories!

Similar to mine I hadn't expected things to move so quickly I was amazed when it was over I truly thought it was going to be sooo much harder than it really was and it was pretty hard as it was lol! Awesome story thanks for sharing!
