Great idea! I am always up for a little birth talk lol. I copied this from the birth announcement post in my birth club. Don't forget to share your story as well.
On the 16th I had an appointment for a non-stress test at the hospital to check on the baby, since I was given two due dates, the first being the 9th, my doctor wanted to make sure he was still getting oxygen and not in any distress. So I went to the hospital at 10am, expecting to stay there for an hour for the test and go home and wait many more days for my little one to come. Well the baby was doing fine, everything with him was good, but my blood pressure was high. So my doctor checked me and my cervix was still very high and hard, and she said it was "unfavorable". So she put the gel in me to soften my cervix, and told me that usually it doesn't work the first time, but she was going to try it and see. They decided to keep me overnight to watch my blood pressure, so off I go to a room expecting a very dull and boring night. At around 2:30 I started to feel contractions about every 2 minutes, but they aren't very strong, so I don't think to much of it, but continue to time. At 4:30 they started to get pretty intense and close together, so I have the nurse check me and sure enough I am 3-4 cm dialated. They bring me to a labour and delivery room and my doctor checks me pretty much as soon as I get there and I am 6 cms dialated already. My contractions hit me really hard, with no break in between them, just one on top of another, and I dialated very quickly. When I got to 9 cms. I had such a strong urge to push, but I obviously couldn't, so when my doctor got there and told me I was 10 cms and could start pushing I was thrilled! I pushed for I think 15 mins. and out came my baby boy! I did it all naturally with no medication and am so happy that I did.
He was born at 7:02 pm, February 16th 2008.
