Raising a Biracial Child

Hi! My name is Laura. I am 33 yo and I am due to have a baby boy Dec 5th. I am also the parent of two girls, ages 8 and 10 from a previous marriage. My daughters and I are caucasion, but my son will be biracial. His father and I were together for a year. When I was 5 months pregnant I caught him cheating. He left me and is now living with/engaged to the other girl. I do my best to stay positive, but this pregnancy (emotionally wise) has been anything less than easy. At first he didn't want the baby, now he is saying that he does. I worry about the person that he has become in my eyes, odviously not the person that i thought that i was with. What kind of father will he be? I worry about this other woman being involved with my child when all I know is bad about her. How will she treat my son? Will she be able to accept him? Will she want to try to make him her own?  I don't worry about being a good mother, but I do worry about my son questioning how he came to be and knowing the turmoil that has surrounded his pregnancy despite all the love that i have for him.

I am hoping to find a group of friends here that will be able to help me be the best mother possible.

Hi Laura. Welcome to the board. I'm sorry that i have no advice for you as i've never been in the situation. I think you are a very strong woman and all the love you have for your son will be more than enough! I hope his father comes around and for the sake of your son will be a good father.
