It is backed by a systematic review of the literature containing over 300 studies (the bibliography can also be downloaded). It debunks the theory that c/sec is safe compared with vaginal birth and that c/sec will prevent problems arising from pelvic floor and anal sphincter weakness and injury. It details the comparative risks along with how likely each one is to occur. It also offers helpful advice on how to maximize chances of a safe, healthy, satisfying birth experience. The systematic review is available for downloading too. It is, however, over 200 pages long.

This booklet is essential reading for every woman considering pregnancy or who is pregnant. Spread the word!
