Since Henci is leaving PP, I thought it would be nice as a small token of our *enourmous* appreciation for her to share ways that she has helped us or people we know with our/their births.

So post away!

Here's what a wrote in an email to Henci this week...thought I might as well include it here too:

"You are an inspiration to me because you have made such a difference without actually being a midwife. I felt kinda hopeless at the end of last year because my dream to become a midwife fell to pieces, but you have helped make me realize that there are ways to champion the cause of normal birth in America without being a caregiver. Thank you."

I can also credit Henci with helping me look for birth alternatives when I was pregnant with my 3rd child 7 years ago, and started questioning GD screening. Ob Myths vs Research Realities gave me the data I needed to reject the normal hospital model of prenatal care and delivery, and switch to out of hospital care. I have had two fabulous, empowering, unforgettable births since then. Those births have changed my life.

Liz.

You are all so wonderful! I'm speechless--which is something for a Jewish mother. I toast you all with a glass of (virtual) champagne.
