So this group has got me thinking... my 3 year old daughter has a rather big birthmark on her back which is light brown with a darker brown spot int he middle and might have a few hairs on it.  Is it something I should bring up to the doc more?  They've always looked at it but never said anything about it so I never was too worried about it.

Also, my youngest daughter who is 20 months old was born with a "strawberry mark" on her hand and they said it would eventually go away.  She's now 20 months old, liek I said, and it's almost gone.  Do I have to worry about it afterwards?

Hi Crystal and welcome to the board!

If your older dd's Dr.s aren't concerned with the birthmark I would not be either UNLESS I've noticed any changes then I would push the issue.

As for your youngest if it appears to be fading or shrinking then I wouldn't worry about this either, only if there was growth or changes for the worse.

best of wishes,

Jo, mom to Jaylee

I actually had a pretty large birthmark on my back as a child. It was about the size of a dime..maybe even a nickel..it was brown, like a mole. It was slightly raised, but never cause any issues, until I was around 13. It started to tear...is the only way I can explain it. I was taking a shower one night, and I felt it stinging. I realized when I got out, that it was bleeding. So, my doc recommended I have it removed...only because it was changing. If there are no changes or anything, I wouldn't worry much about it.
