Hey everyone!

Just wanted to stop in and see how everyone is doing since the beginning of summer.

Jordan went off to her summer college and is now home for a week then back to college. It's funny, you think once your kids go off to college that you would be done with the drama...WRONG...it's a WHOLE new kind of drama, the whole I'm an adult and you can't tell me what i can and cant do blah blah blah - well last i know, we are paying for that college child so i believe we still have the authority to say whats what...right?!! GRRR...kids!

Jaylee had a great summer and enjoyed GOAL camp and now has about 2 1/2 weeks till school starts (Aug. 24th here) and soccer will start up about the same time. Glad to see she still wants to play and we found out that our U7 soccer will have a keeper (goalie), which she has said she wants to be. Not sure how they will decide who gets to be, we pretty much are keeping the same team that we had the last few seasons and usually only end up with 1 - 2 new players.

Laurie, how does your soccer decide who plays what for soccer?

Johnny and I celebrated 9 years of marriage on the 27th of July and went to Cancun! We had a blast and went to a show called Co Co Bongo (after that night club from the movie The Mask). That place was wild!! We took the wrong bus coming back to the hotel and God knows  where we ended up at ...at 4 am! Luckily, we found a cab right away that took us back to the hotel, OMG talk about scary!

So what has everyone been up to? Spare 5 min and give us an update...yes, Jules..I am talking to you and Lisa too!! LOL - just teasing you!

take care & miss ya'll!

Jo

My life is currently in a whirlwind.  Paul got a job in Petoskey so now it looks like we will get to move after all.  I don't know what the visitation will be.  I have custody.  Fremont is about 3 hours from Petoskey and Petoskey is 3 1/2 hours from our current home.  I have to contact my lawyer tomorrow.

Hiya, Jo! :o)

You sound busy. LOL about the college & drama stuff. I always hated to hear my friends tell me how they were on their own before they got married and "on my own" turns out to be in college paid for by their parents. I was on my own for seven years or so before I was married and having my parents pay my bills wasn't part of that picture, let me tell ya. On my own meant on my own. Just me and my dog. :o)

Soccer started this week for our girls... it begins with 3hr/day soccer "camp" followed by practice 2x/week (one day w/ a trainer) for my younger two. For Melissa who is headed to HS, captains' practices started a few weeks ago (only once a week for that since it's preseason and there are no official coaches allowed); she's going to "camp" from 6:30-9:30pm this week and mandatory practices start next week (daily 8-11am, Mon.-Sat.). As far as positions go, when they're young, the coaches usually try to work the girls so they're comfortable in any position (except keeper, which takes a special talent). I know some girls are better in certain positions, though. If Jaylee likes being a keeper, you might like to foster that since a good keeper is essential to the game and usually in high demand. Did her GOALS camp have special training for keepers? If not, and she continues with soccer as she gets older, you might like to look into keeper training. Our club had sessions the last two seasons with one of the trainers from the old Cosmos team. We don't have a keeper in our family, but I heard the training is excellent. Trust me, a good keeper is hard to find. If Jaylee enjoys it, she may one day be the boss of her team (keeper has the best view of the field and is the team's mouthpiece to relay plays and instructions).
IMHO, as the team ages, a good coach chooses which player plays what position based on individual talent and team talent. I'm going to use Sarah (my 10yo) as an example. Sarah is a strong player with a lot of stamina. She's aggressive when she needs to be, quick and a smart player as well. IMHO, she'd make an awesome middie and does get up every once in a while, but mostly plays D. In the words of her coaches "Sarah is her own wall... nothing gets past her" and for the most part, nothing does; she makes an excellent defender. That is where the team talent comes in. Sarah only gets to play mid when her team is up a few goals because the dynamic of the field changes when she comes out of D (meaning they have to put a lesser defender in the back to move Sarah up and it doesn't always work out well, so Sarah often has to go back to D if the other team's offense looks like it's making headway w/o her back there). I think the girls (or boys) often fall into a position they play well rather than choose a position they would like to play. I had a great article about u10 play and if I can find it, I'll send it to you. LOL... see what happens when you ask me about soccer? That'll teach ya! ;o)

Congrats on your 9th anniversary!!! We just celebrated our 16th but were camping, not anything exciting as your trip to Mexico. (glad you found your way back to your hotel after getting on the wrong bus)

Barb, I'm sorry to hear everything is so difficult for you right now. (((((HUGS))))) At least now with Paul's new job, you'll be able to move as you were hoping to do. That's a good thing, right? One of my girlfriends was in a similar situation to yours and although it was very hard on her then, she is so much better off now than she was with her ex. Hang in there.

As for me, I've been quite busy with my mother. The day after school ended for us (back in June), my mother was hospitalized w/ pneumonia and a partially collapsed lung and was intubated and on a respirator. While in the hospital, she recovered from the first bout of pneumonia only to catch a nastier case. Lovely, huh? She was very close to having a tracheostomy, but thankfully she recovered enough to be moved out of the ICU and into a nursing home. She's been there the last few weeks and is s-l-o-w-l-y improving. I'm not real happy with the place and am trying to find something a bit closer to my home (she's an hour away). In the meantime, my fil had a sextuple (is that the word for 6?) bypass surgery. He's doing remarkably well. :o)

Last week, we went camping. The girlies had a blast with the fire pit and riding the quad. Sleeping on the ground was not so much fun for this old bat, but we survived. (would you believe we remembered the air mattress but somehow the plug got left at home?!)

Hello Hello Hellooooo!!

I've come up for air!  It's been quite a summer.  Thankfully, work seems to have slowed down to a bit better pace the past couple of days, so I've been able to breathe a little bit.

Happy belated Anniversary, Jo!  Cancun??  Wow!  We celebrated our 6th anniversary on July 26.  Did you know we were that close in dates?  I can't remember if we have discussed this or not.  Hmm.....  Anyway, I'm more on Laurie's side of the page.  No exciting plans.  We rented a cottage that week, and it was our full first day there, and well, I think dh would have forgotten it if I hadn't spit out "Happy Anniversary" during a rather heated discussion (I was also very much PMS-ing) that morning.  Yeah, 6 years of bliss.  Hahahahaha!

All is well though.  Nickolas and Eric are doing well.  Eric turned 3 on July 5 (can't remember when I last wrote).  He's still not potty trained, much to my dismay.  He has pee down to a fine art (except at night, which is fine), but poo?  No way, Jose!  He refuses to do it on the toilet.  "It's too hard, Mommy".  ARGH!  What is a Mommy to do??  So, he's still in pull-ups.  Asks for underwear.  I tell him when he stops pooping in his pants.  He is also banned from the movie CARS until he starts pooping on the toilet.  I'm soooo mean, but it was a good way to break the habit!  He was addicted to that darn movie!  Nickolas is growing up, and turning into a little boy.  No baby/toddler/preschooler anymore.  How does that happen??  He's starting with the weird facial expressions and doing all these weird dancy things.  When I give him the hairy eyeball, he immediately apologizes, so my good boy is still lurking in there!!  He got player of the game in soccer last night, with Grandpa watching, so he's rather proud of himself.  Although, one of the other kids got 5 goals (he only had 3), but he still got it.  He wasn't quite sure how that worked, and I told him it was because he was such a team player.  That's my soccer input.  Oh, and his soccer picture was REALLY cute.  All this "middie" and "keeper" talk is beyond my reach right now.  One day, I'll be able to participate!  Hehehe!

Barb, I hope things end up working out for you.  Sounds pretty rough right now.

Anyway, my short break seems to be ending.  I suddenly got all busy again.  Sigh........

Have fun!

Julie

I am busy, busy, busy, packing.  I got the go ahead to move other than his girlfriend will be moving with him.  So I had to agree that there could be contact between her and the kids.  It was only a no contact order until the divorce is final.  I survived the whole week without my kids.  I got them back today.  I did have Jake home so that helped.  He is not on the visitation order due to anger and he has a choice due to his age.

We load the truck next week Thursday night and Friday Morning.

Are any of you on facebook?  I am  Imacrocheter is my username.
