I was picking up formula the other day and saw "NEW Enfamil Bedtime Bottle". I looked at the can and it said it is designed to slowly thicken in baby's tummy to keep them satisfied longer. I also read the instructions and it said to allow the bottle to sit for 2 min after preparing before feeding (I assume to start the thickening). Has anyone else seen this? What are your thoughts on it? I plan on asking my doctor about it at our next appointment. (Since he's only 6 wks, I won't use something like that w/o asking my doc first, but I would like more nights with 5-6 hr sleep stretches)

Hi and welcome!

Personally that formula sounds a little sketchy if you ask me. I'd prefer to wake up more often to feed rather than have the formula thicken in my babies tummy. Kinda sounds gross...lol! Plus once they reach the age of 3 months they sleep for longer spans at night, my DD started sleeping 5-6 hrs/night at 3 months, so you really don't have much longer to wait. I think formula companies are just trying to make some extra money and this is just another one of their money making ploys unfortunately.

I guess I was just hoping he'd do for me what I did for my momma, I started sleeping all night at 1 month. No such luck here, oh well. We'll treasure the nights he gives us 6 hours. I had also hoped he would have more of a schedule by now,but he's still all over the place with nap times.

Oh trust me I feel ya. From birth to 3 months my DD had colic, she cried all day and night long. It was awful. I wished for the day that I would sleep again, and it eventually came...lol! It's rough in the beginning for sure, you feel like you might not make it, and it's such a huge life adjustment even when you think you have prepared yourself as much as you can. Hang in there, it DOES get easier on it's own, I just don't want you to waste your money on something that may not work, and even may upset your little guy's tummy.

6 weeks is still very young, at about 3 months you will somewhat have a schedule going and by 6 months after the introduction to solids you may even feel like you have some control back in your life. All I will say is treasure every moment cause it goes by too fast (although I do NOT miss the colicky stage...lol) one day you'll be like me and wonder where the past 2 years have gone. :(

i completly agree i would stay far away from that formula.. in fact my lo had colic too and was up all the time.. and then one wounderful night he slept for 11 hours.. i was so scard i checked on him every 30 min.. to make sure he was ok.. and he as been like hat every since.. all i can advise is do not put your baby on a scedule let them put you on one and you will be better off.  We did that becaue our hosptial advised us that was the best thing and it was.  our lo did come up wiht his own schedule on the dot.. he ate at every 2 - 3 hours.. but on his clock not ours.. and he sleep on his own time not our.. but it worked out perfect for us.. he goes to sleep now at 10:30 - 11:00pm.. and gets up at 9:30 am somtimes if he id teathing for a bottle.. then back to bed until 11:30 am.. and it works out great for me.. i can get up take a shower.. and get dinner ready for later on in the day..  mind you he is now 9 months old.. but he started doing this at 4 months.. just give it some time.. it flys fast anyway..  by  the way enfiml awas the worst formula we used it really hurt my lo's tummy and that was the one he took in the hosptial.. so no way i would use this new version of it..
