Hello all. I used to be quite active here, but the rush of life....well, you know.

There are a lot of new people on the board, so I might as well introduce myself. Anyway, I'm mom of 4 yr old DS and 1 yr old DD. My husband of 8 years is a WAHD. He does some consulting on the side and I work as a project mgr for Fortune 500.

It was purely a financial decision for us. DC never worked. I've gone through all of the emotions that those of you that are new to the lifestyle have voiced. At the end of the day, we've done this for 4 years now.....and we've done the best we could given our circumstances. My son is one of the most loving empathetic little boys out there. Yeah, he may not know his whole alphabet yet, or be able to write his name, but if someone gets hurt on the playground - he's the first to lend a hand to help.

I believe that everything happens for a reason. Except for history, I believe we deserve no more or less than our partners to be at home with the kids. Men can provide the same nurturing environment that we visualize we would.

I feel jealousy and sadness when I miss milestones. But I'm also happy to know we did what we could to make it work.

Anyway, I promise to be more active here and look forward to get to know you all better.

adrienne

Hi Adrienne

It sounds like your situation is working for you. I have 2 boys agaes 4 and 5. They are also both very sensitive, as much as they would be if I was home, I think. They have a very nuturing Dad. Like you I do feel sad when I feel like I miss something, like when DH has all the opportunities to volunteer at my oldest son's school. But with DH home I have much more time to spend with the boys than when we were both working since DH takes care of the cooking and cleaning and I'm not swamped with housework when I get home. It's great to come home to dinner cooking, the floor vaccuumed, with nothing pressing to do but hang out with my boys!

Amy
