Hi you all i was wondering around. I am currently 10 weeks prego and wandered over here from april 06 club. I am currently working 2 jobs and only on the weekends i work 16 hr days. My husband was a painter for 13 years but in the past year has had so many health problems we decided it was better for him to stay at home. I am thinking of quiting my second job when the baby's born (it's only play money) but I feel that with a new addition it might be a strain. I wanted to know if anyone has already been through this or is going through this I would like some advice but all the people i know are so ignorant about my freedom (always a work a holic) I feel my job is an peacefull escape and my own time. Thanks for you in put
Jaaziel

Hi Jaaziel, welcome to the board and congrats on baby to be! I am kinda new here and new to being the breadwinner in our family. My DH has decided to go back to school. He is currently looking for a PT job, but I will still be the main income for about 2 yrs. I have to say it will not and has not been easy. I find myself worrying more about bills, etc than I use to, but know it will be better in the long run, once he get's his degree. My best advice would be to stick to a budget, and make sure you take time out for you. It can be tough working, then going home to take care of your family.

Hi and Welcome Jaaziel!! And contgrats on the new baby on his/her way.

I've been doing the breadwinner thing since day way...way before H left us.  I will admit I was a bit of a work-a-holic myself.  I had to cut back my hours at work once the baby came and then I scaled back even further once H left and I had to out our DS in day care.  Although I sill work a 45 hour work week typially w/ a 70 mile a day commute.  I know a lady on another iV board that LOVES her work-a-holic lifestyle and swears she would not be able to stay home.  Her DH is a SAHD and it works out great for them.

Everyone is different, just like every baby is different.  It'll be hard to say this early in the game as to what will work for you.  Is your DH able to care for baby w/ his health problems?  What are you expecting from you?  And REMEMBER...once baby come (or even before if you get put on bedrest or such) baby changes everything...so be willing to be flexible and things should be able to work out ok for you.

Welcome to the board! I've been accussed of the workaholic thing myself_ at one time I was working my current job as a year round teacher of the severely disabled, tutoring 2 autistic kids on the side as well as being on 5 committees at work! This changed somewhat when we adopted our 1st son and even more so after the 2nd one-but I still tend to overdue it. Fortuntely my DH is relxed and a real homebody- opposites attract!
