Latoya -

How old is your child? How big? Is your child long and skinny? Broad shoulders?

I can tell you than the Nautilus is a great seat for 2 or 3 year olds who are over 35lbs, but who are not broad shouldered. It tends to be an easy car seat to install and use and older children can easily learn how to fasten themselves in the car seat. Some children with board shoulders feel squished in the seat.

A baby/toddler who is under 35lbs is 500% safer in rear-facing car seat. Since the Nautilus is a forward-facing car seat, it would not be appropriate for a child who is so much safer rear-facing. (see www.joelsjourney.org for some information about why. We can share other links if you need them.)

I know I've heard some complaints about head slump in the Nautilus, but it's not from all parents. I think age/development of the child is a factor too. When we put my DS ff at 2 1/2 years old, he had issues with his head slumping in our car seats. But now that he is almost 5 years old, it's not an issue in the same car. I think it has to do with how his neck is stronger now - which goes back to why rear-facing is so much safer for small children.

***Waving*** Hi there!

For your situation I think a Nautilus would be an ideal choice! I think *some* target stores even have them on clearance in the Rachel pattern (pink and brown) for $109!!! (Legwork/research required- usually have to go online, then check availability of stores close to you, then call, usually the smaller stores with less storage room are the ones with the sales). It's really trial and error to find the ones with the good sales.

That would certainly be a MUCH better choice than a roundabout.

Hey Angela

walmart had it online for 144.44

got to the store and it was 155 and that was roll back price

but they only had one box and it was very damaged and heavily stained....yuk

so we went a few blocks over to target

they had the grey and pink and one in brown for 155.99 on sale

i think it's the rachel

i thought the the pink would stain to easily....so i got the brown

i've read on a few other reviews that it might be hard to install

i wanted to ask you if the fire department helps with correct carseat installation

i know they are busy with saving lives, and it might be a silly question to ask

but.....i don't know where else you would go

thanks Angela

p.s. the girls look great ;-)

There is a link at the top of this board to find a CPST in your area. The fire dept or police dept are great places to start- but just make sure it is a CPST and not someone who just says "yeah, I have a couple kids, I can help you out" (some places really dont know any better). I am a tech and would be happy to help you if you are anywhere near Atlanta, but if I remember correctly you aren't. :(
