Looking to replace a carseat

Yesterday my DH was involved in a passenger side impact wreck with my DD in her carseat on the passenger side. I had an Alpha Omega Elite which protected her and kept her safe but now we are looking to replace that carseat and the decision time is here. I am not in a HUGE rush to replace it since we still have another seat but we will need a new one if my mom's car is fixed or if we have to get a new vehicle. Along with the Alpha Omega Elite, I have http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3532435 which I ABSOLUTELY love and my daughter LOVES it for long trips which we make at least once a month sometimes every other week. So I am need to decide if I want to get another seat like it or move the one we have to my mom's car and get a different seat for DH car. My mom has an '07 Torrent and my husband has a '99 Camry. Any recommendations would be great since with all of this I dont have time to restart research on carseats like I did when I was pregnant.

BTW my daughter is 20 mo old, is 35" tall and weighs about 32 lbs

Thanks, FireChic

I'm so glad to hear that your baby was okay after the accident. Was your DH also okay? I hope so!

Was she rear-facing or forward-facing in the car seat?

Since you like the Graco MyRide, I would recommend getting a second one. I love it since it has the 40lb rear-facing limit. If you wanted to consider a different seat, my other recommendation is the Radian 65. It also has a 40lb rear-facing limit. The Radian can be tricky to install in some vehicles, but we've found that ours works pretty well in different vehicles.

What brand is the radian 65 you have? I tried Googling, but what came up was one by Sunshine Kids and that only goes to 33lbs rear facing.

You are definitely finding old information. I have an older Radian with a 33lb limit. The 35lb rf limits came out in 2008 and the 40lb rf limit was announced this summer with it retroactive to Sept 2008.

The current information I'm finding quickly is about the super latch seats that are just coming out. Here's what the manufacture website says... "Radian65SL is a convertible car seat for rear-facing children 5-40 lbs and forward-facing children up to 65 lbs in a 5-point harness."

From what I can tell by looking at some of the websites is that the SL seats are replacing the regular Radian seats. I saw that Amazon has the 33lb weight limit, but that information is well over a year old. I can't find where/if Target or BRU has the rf limit posted on the website.

Sweet! Thank you! I need a 40lb rear facing and it's nice to know there's more than one option (DD said she hates the Graco!)
