Looking at a Regent

We have been looking at a Regent for our 38lb just turned 3yr old. He is needing this to replace a 40lb cosco seat my parents bought without asking my opinion first. I am wondering since they are phasing out the Regents is this something we need to buy NOW or could it wait another month or so to save up a little money. I'm worried that we will wait a month or 2 and then the Regents will be all gone. Is that going to happen? If this happens we will get a Frontier but I think I like the Regent idea better. Albee Baby Has the Regents so cheap! Has anyone got one from there recently to konw if they have good dates on them? I don't want to buy a Regent with only 4years left on it. Any more info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm debating the same thing - but for my soon to be 5 year old DS who is 51lbs and about 46 in tall! My DS was 38lbs and 38in tall at 3 years old when he outgrew his 40lb car seat.

I can try to find out what the dates are on the albeebaby seat elsewhere. I think if we buy our seats now, we'll have seats that are at least several months old - but not years old. I bought out other Regent in February from hipmonkey.com and the seat arrived within 10 days of when it was manufactured.

Look at where your DS's shoulders are in relation to the harness strap. The harness strap must be AT or ABOVE his shoulders. If his shoulders are above the strap, then he has already outgrown the seat.

I've found out some recent dates -

Diapers.com - someone got a seat with a 6/2009 date

Amazon and Albeebaby - dates of 8/2009

I think you'll probably get a good DOM from hipmonkey too.
