Hi girls!

We have a 17 month old daughter (well, almost 17 months) and we're going on a looong trip over thanksgiving. Driving from Chicago to NY. This will be our first trip longer than 3 hours with her and I would LOVe to get a car seat tray for snacking and coloring and whatnot. I've just got this voice in the back of my head questioning the safety.

We've got a 2009 Ford Edge and a Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 car seat. Does anyone have any advice/recommendations?

Thanks so much!
Stacy

There are a couple of soft trays available that would probably be okay if you wanted something like this. I can't remember the brand off the top of my head...might be this one...

That's made entirely of soft foam. I don't think I'd buckle it around the child the way they suggest...I might get some sticky velcro if I wanted to secure it just a little bit.

Mainly, you don't want anything that has hard plastic, metal, etc. on it.

I think it's great that you are listening to your inner voice - or is that mother's intuition. If your primary concern is safety, then you should put your daughter in a rear-facing car seat - but unfortunately, you cannot use the Nautilus rear-facing.

The tray that the other person recommended is a good one and it's supposed to also work rear-facing, but I haven't tried it.
