My LO was born on July 10, 2009 and only weighs about 15 lbs. However she is already almost 28' long and our infant seat only goes up to 30". So I guess we need to move up to a convertible seat. I want to keep her rear facing as long as possible. We don't really have a budget as yet, but I'd appreciate price points from low to high. (If it gets out of our budget we'll ask for it for Christmas.) It seems she's going to be a long skinny baby so what seat work well for that? We drive an '02 Buick Rendezvous that has captain seats in the middle so that is where she'd be sitting (behind the passenger most likely simply because we don't have enough leg room to drive if we put her behind the driver.). We do have LATCH in our vehicle. Thanks for your help!! Let me know if you need anymore information.

Manufacturers have to put a length, but it isn't necessarily the overall length that you have to worry about.  as long as she's under the weight limit and has at least 1" of hardshell over her head, she still fits in the seat.   How much room does she have above her head now?

For long torsoed kids, I'd go with the Radian 65 (around 200), Graco MyRide65 (around 150), or the First Years True Fit (around 180)  in that order.  As she gets older, you'll have to have less of a recline (not the 45 degree required of your infant seat) and generally they take up less room front to back than an infant seat does.
