Duke University has a study for kids up to 8yrs old who have CP/brain damage.  My daughter just got accepted, and although she does not have CP and I don't consider her brain damaged - it IS something neurological that makes her muscles not work right, and for a 3 1/2 year old - she is very delayed in all areas.     What they do is take the cord blood and put it back into your child through a transfusion - this is vitually risk free and the hope is that the stem cells will go to the damaged area (brain) and repair cells.  There is a $14K fee, but it looks promising!  Google Dr. Kurtzberg, cord blood, Duke University.

Definitely worth looking into!  We can't wait!

That is wonderful!!
We saved my sons who of course is perfectly healthy. We tried to donate Krisitns because we didn't have the extra money but they didn't get a good enough collection. I would love to be a part of that study but since they only use the patients own cells we can't. I am so happy for you guys to be able to do it.
Keep us posted!

Kari

Above is something I just found that looks like it basically reversed this girl's CP!  I will keep you updated and will post something after January-when we have this done.  Thanks for you comments!  Amy
