Some days are so hard. Maddi's OT recommended a speech eval because she doesn't have any words. So I guess there will be more therapy to come. I also asked her where she thought she was developmentally age-wise, and she and the PT say about 12 months. The gap has gotten smaller, because when she was initially evaluated by E.I., she was 11 months and at 3-5 months physically. So I'm happy to see that, but she still doesn't stand on her own. She does cruise, and it is always thrilling to watch her get around on those tiny little legs :o)

Thanks, ladies. I don't post much, but I read when I can, and I'm glad to have a board to come to.

Seems like Maddi is doing really well and it's fantastic news that the gap between her and her peers is getting smaller.  It must be hard to find that a new therapy is needed.  Isaac was seeing a ST for his feeding issues as his tongue is floppy although that's stopped now as he now has most of his teeth he can compensate.  We will probably see her again for ST when he is older but they don't do that where we live until he is 2.

Hugs Elizabeeth,
Some days are just harder than others! I'm sorry there is more therapy needed. Such a dreaded feeling. But she is really doing great and this will just be another thing to get her online with her peers. I would say 12 mo dev at 16 mo is wonderful (if I did my math right for her age). I know its frustsrating for things to take so long but she really is doing so well.
Hang in there.

Elizabeth, it's so hard to add more therapies when our greatest wish is that our child/grandchild needed NO therapy.

Many children with hypotonia talk late. They put so much energy into learning to move, that there's nothing left over for speech.

Just hold fast to the progress Maddi's made so far!!!

Hugs to you and your three cuties.

Thanks for the support, everyone. Things seem better now. We were all outside yesterday enjoying the beautiful NY weather (almost 70 degrees!) and Maddi was pushing me around while I walked backwards, trying to keep up with her siblings. She was laughing and having a great time. I know she'll get there. I remember when I wasn't sure if she'd ever crawl or cruise, and now she is doing both, and even climbing stairs.

I realize that my siggy is quite old, so I'm attaching a new pic. Maddi is 16 months old now.
