Direct Bookings vs. Castings Boston

I was just wondering what is everyone's experiences with Direct bookings of your child under age 3 vs. the regular Castings.

We are working with an agency here in Boston (DS is just not in what they call "the book") and we just go to open castings when notified by the agency if we can make it.  DS however is 3 for 3 over the past year when going to a casting and getting booked.  So now I am wondering if it is worth putting him out there for direct bookings and making the time for it if he does get booked.

Do any of your children under age 3 get direct bookings here in the Boston market?

Most of my kids' work has been through direct bookings, from infancy up. Several have been through castings. I'm not sure how old your DS is but for both kids, there was less work (castings and direct bookings) between 1.5 and 3 than as infants and when DD got older.

My son is 2.5 and has been doing this for just over a year.  He has had one direct booking (Safety 1st) and one booking from a casting (Hasbro).

Hi-
Can you guys explain to me the difference between direct bookings and castings?
I am wondering the same thing I think. My oldest dd (3 years old) has been with cameo a little over a year and the only calls we ever get are for open casting calls-and not many of those either. My other dd (almost 2) got 2 jobs from open castings for hasbro. She is not signed on with an agent. I wonder if I should bother? Also my ds is 4 mos. I noticed that you thought the babies got some work? And over 3 years?
Thanks! Would love the input

Thanks,
