Hi all,

Just a quick note to let you know Braydon will be having his next rod expansion surgery on Thursday, Sept. 2. He will also be having 4 teeth extracted (for future orthodontic work). I'm afraid the mouth pain will be worse than the back/incisional pain. However, he's happy that the teeth will come out while he's under general anesthesia, and NOT in the dentist's office. BTDT - he didn't like that at all.

Braydon had surgery on his ankle on March 1 to clean out the joint (lots of scar tissue) and to release the heel-cord (again). He's had a problem with the scar healing as a keloid. It seems to be getting better (slowly but surely). He's also wearing a night DAFO to keep his tendon stretched as much as possible. He isn't wearing the daytime DAFO because they want him to use his foot/ankle as much as possible and utilize the muscle and other soft tissues to keep them flexible. He is doing well. He runs, rides a bike, climbs and does most everything other 9yr old boys do. I hope he continues to do so well.

My best to all!

Carmell,
We'll be thinking about Braydon on Thursday and hope he has a quick and successful recovery. I saw your post on the cf board and I hope he's not having as much foot/ankle pain as he was when you posted earlier. Poor guy!!! I can relate to his relief at having the dental work done while he's under g.a.! That's not fun either!
Keep us posted-
we're praying for your little (big) guy! :)

Just stopping by to say that we are thinking of Braydon and you today, Carmell, and hoping that everything goes as smoothly as possible. I hope he recovers quickly and does great. We'll be eager to read your update..

Best wishes,
Teresa and Claire

Thanks to Jenny and Theresa and all for thinking of us last week. Braydon's surgery went well. Besides having the two rods lengthened, he had 4 teeth extracted and steriod injections in his keliod scar on his ankle (from March's ankle surgery). He had some pain management issues this time, but overall, the recovery has gone well. He is already digging in the dirt outside (making a garage for his new HotWheels motorcycle given to him last week) and playing PS2. He's refusing to do homework so I think he's pretty much on the mend... LOL. I hope everyone here is doing well! Take care and big hugs to all!

P.S.
I think I'll re-post this as a new thread - just for kicks...
