I like to give gifts that I would like to receive...I think poor teachers must have received plenty of apple themed gifts, mugs, etc.

Here are some ideas for teachers:

*  stainless steel water bottle (ok, this is a favorite little sumthin for just about everyone...last year Walgreens had them 3 for $10)

*  gift card for coffee...even if it is just enough for 1, it will be a treat!

*  gift card for Barnes and Nobles

*  Vera Bradley cell phone holder or change purse -- $5:

*  basket of school supplies, like copy paper, hand sanitizer, clorox wipes, etc

As a teacher I personally prefer Borders over Barnes and Noble. Borders has a Teacher Appreciation Week twice a year and gives teachers 30-40 % off of anything they buy (doesn't have to be for the classroom)

The kids are only allowed to give a small"homemade" gift here.
They do give a class "gift" though. Everyone in the class is asked to donate $10-25 (or whatever they can afford). The class parent then takes the cash and get a Visa giftcard for the teacher.

All the kids draw a picture and write a special message about the teacher. They make a book of the artwork for the teacher w/ the gift card

I am absolutely in love with the bags I found on this website...

http://www.hautemarketbags.com/

They are pretty and functional, several of them can be monogramed, and they are the perfect size to use for anything!

I use mine for a 'day bag' - snacks and activities for the kids, for books, the kids' sleepovers, to take the kids' change of clothes for their activities.  I am giving several people I know these bags with their monogram on it in huge letters like they have on the front page of the site.

I also love that the company gives back to charity and the bags are made from an earth friendly material.

Good luck on your gift hunt!
