Halloween candy for Christmas

So I got through the kids candy every Halloween and as I do, I pull out and save some things for Christmas. (I am doing more than just checking wrappers, I have to separate it because some of the kids have severe allergies.)

I save out hard candy that isn't Halloween colors or flavors to use on the candy wreaths, like peppermints and butterscotch.

I save the kisses and M&M's to donate to the schools when they do the grahmcracker houses. (Kisses are rare here and my kids can't have M&M's)

I'll save out some S'Marties and small candy bars for stockings.

Anyone else do this? Or am I just really pathetic and cheap? It's just that they get so much and some they can't eat and I don't like.

Cheers!

I did that one year when we had a lot of M&Ms left over.  I used the red and green ones in holiday cookies.

I donated my freezer stash of EBM to another mom through

Well, since this is the first year that we are going trick-r-treating. I don't expect to have things left over just due to the fact that due to Paul's age we are only going down like one street. However, I will have to file that away for future thought.

I buy all kinds of candyto give out so that I can give to the dibetic kids that come to the house sugar free candy, and if I know of a child at my home with an allergie they will get something safe for them. For what the kids bring home we wil go through it and pull out what they will eat then give the rest to the shelter for them to use for Christmas treats for the kids.

We are working on getting things for the kids to get that will be spending Christmas at the shelter. Teens love gifts even if they seem silly like candy and a cool body spray, chap stick. We can do 15 stockings for them to get on Christmas morning. I have to call the teen shelter Monday they were trying to get a new house so they might have room for more kids by now. If they got the house they will have room for 12 more teens.

That's a good idea! If you got some butterfinger (and your kids can have it) you can save it for a butterfinger cake..its delish!
