Hi!  I'm in Houston too and have been looking into a VBAC and it has been like hitting a brick wall!  I'm not open to an at-home birth, and would prefer a doctor over a midwife and it's hard even finding a hospital that will allow VBACs.  I know a doula so I've gotten some names of doctors that will do a VBAC, but they're not near me, which is so frustrating!  I'm not even pregnant yet but we plan to try again soon and I really wanted a VBAC.  Now I'm pretty sure I'm taking the path of least resistance and just doing another c-section even though my first one STUNK and I really don't want another!  I didn't know that about the family with the cerebal palsy baby.  So sad for them, but I wonder if they knew what the outcome of that case would lead to...

(sorry for the threadjack!)

HI :) It's so cool to see all those June Joey's in your siggy...how wonderful! Although I still get that 'twinge' of sadness over the june bug I lost, even though I now have Ewan! Very strange feeling...

Anyway, c/s #5 was a BREEZE!!!! OMG I would have another 5 kids if they would be guaranteed such an easy recovery. They actually cut away my old scars and scar tissue, and I'm left with one scar and a recovery like it was my first. I really really didnt have any problems, and minimul pain... my c/s#4 was the worst recovery because of the build up of scar tissue, if they would have 'tidied up' last time then I wouldn't of had so much pain, I'm SURE of it.... I also had a senior surgeon, so maybe that helped? But anyway, I had the c/s on the thursday...and by the monday I was looking after all 5 kids by myself as my mum went home and dh went to work! All kids were on summer vacation...I could NOT have done that last time.

I wish you all the best with your decision to have #4, there was only 18mo between #3 and #4 for me (perhaps another factor? but I cant see why another 6mo would have made much difference?).

I am so sorry Emma, I didnt realize you had lost the baby I didnt mean to bring up sad memories. Congratulations On Ewan!♥

Thank you for sharing your experience, when My OB mentioned there is a risk of hysterectomy I got a little scared, he said it was a 1 or 4% chance and that it would stem from the placenta growing over scar tissue and during delivery if they couldnt stop the bleeding. I feel so blessed already with 3 healthy and for the most part great & healthy pregnancies (& babies) I dont want to push my luck! I hate that having had previous c/s is dictating how many children I can safely have!
