My daughter was breech and was born with dislocated hips.
It wasn't a big deal at all. They checked her for it before she left the hospital. She had to wear a cloth harness/sling that held her hips in the right position, and with her normal movements they went back into place before the bones calcified. She had to wear that until she was 6 months old. Now she is 4 and runs and jumps like any other kid. Additionally, she started walking at 9 mos so it didn't slow her down at all.
If this helps the specialist told me it is more common in girls bc your hormones to loosen your joints affected the baby (similar to newborn girls having mini periods). Also they may have checked and you didn't know bc a)they checked in the nursery and b) one of the initial exams is just moving the legs and hips in particular motions.
