Hi everyone!

So glad that I just found this board! I just had an emergency c-section on Oct. 1st as well as an appendectomy. our new addtion is a beautiful baby girl Brooke Eva:) I gave birth to my 1st born vaginally, so this is very new territory for me. Thankfully my healing has been very good and i feel pretty normal besides the occasional burning sensation.

So I have a few questions...does anyone else follow the 1 month no driving thing?? Also, do I really have to wait a month to lift anything heavier than the baby??? I have a 20 month old, as well, and it is hard to not lift him up. I would love your feedback as i embark on this new terrain!! I just can't wait for this all to be over with and life can get back to normal:)

Thanks so much!!!!

Tami

Tami -

Congratulations on your new pink bundle of joy! I hope you are enjoying your time with her and that your recovery continues to go well.

I've had 3 C sections, and haven't ever really paid too much attention to the strict "no driving rule." With that said, I haven't done a ton of driving and the trips that I've taken have been short trips. I also picked up my son when I felt ready - your body will tell you if you're "over doing it" with pain and additional red bleeding. If that happens, stop and wait some more time before you carry heavy items.

Again, I hope your healing goes quickly! Please pop in and ask us any other questions you might have... that's what we're here for! :)

Hello

I had my section on a Monday, was released on Wednesday, drove to the store on Thursday and my sister (for whom I was caretaker) had a stroke on Friday. So...I did whatever I could without pulling. Your body will tell you, I promise.

I had my c-section on Sat 10/3 and drove yesterday..I figured as long as I didnt hurt getting into the van I was ok to drive. Thursday my sister took us to the grocery store and it hurt a lil getting in her surburban but overall I was ok.   I agree on your body will tell you if you've overdone it, walking at the grocery store made me very tired but walking thru walmart yesterday very slowly seemed to be "ok" I was tired but ok.

Hi Tami!

Congratulations on your new little one! I didn't drive while I was still taking pain meds, which was about a month. But I'm on the WAY cautious side, so I really think you have to use your best judgement. Same with lifting - I'd be a little careful, but obviously you can't wait around for people to lift everything for you! When I'd try doing too much, my incision would start to ache. That's how I knew it was time to take a break!

Enjoy your baby!
