It's been 8+ months since my c-section and I just started to work out Monday.  My scar actually healed fairly well...I have had no pain since around 5 months and the numbness went away around 6 months.  I know that when you have a c-section they cut through your muscle so its harder to work them out so I expected a little pain and struggling.  I am trying not to push myself, to work out every other day but it does hurt a little - about 1-2 inches below my belly button (above my scar)...I assume this is because of the muscle there.  Anyway, I was wondering how any one else has done with working out after a c-section?  How long did it take you to get your abs in shape?  Do you -have any techniques?  Also, I've noticed after sit-ups, push-ups and some light jogging that when I come home I have pinkish spotting/discharge (TMI, sorry).  I don't feel like I'm doing too much but maybe I'm pushing myself too hard...?

Jamie,

I had a hard time with my abs after a c/s. It took almost a full year before I felt normal with working out. I still feel a little pain around my icision area after a hard ab workout. Truthfully, the only thing that helped me was Pilates. I went to a studio in my area for a few private lessons, but have continued on my own with DVD's I check out from the library. That's the only thing that has helped me get my muscle tone back.

I'm very sorry about the loss of your son.

Candice

Well I have to confess that I've never gotten fully back in shape between my C sections. My first 2 were 14 months apart, so I was pretty much PG back to back and there was only 19 months between #2 and #3 -- so I was PG again where you are now. I do think that the symptoms of stretching are normal, but I'm not so sure about the spotting. I haven't had that at all - so I'd watch that and see or call your doctor if it's really frequent for more than a few days/workouts.

The photo of Ryan in your siggy is beautiful.

Good luck with getting back in shape!
