I think that's the point. They WANT to waste your time so you'll go away. If you go away they wont have to pay.
I went through severl levels of appeal and finally hired an attorney who specializes in insurance issues. He went back to the original denial, sent an entire binder of documentation that they couldn't possibly go through and they finally paid us. It was worth the $$ we spent on the attorney because we're in this for the long haul. Probably until Michelle is 18. Our insurance says it covers through age 19 now so hopefully we can keep this same insurance plan until then.
I also had trouble with customer service, even after they agreed to pay. they made so many errors and did some completely stupid stuff trying to take back previously paid claims. I complained and said I wanted the name and direct phone# of someone who can be helpful. They actually agreed. Now I have a contact person who answers her phone directly and knows who I am when I call. I'm a VIP. Very Irate Parent!
