DS had speech today and this was only his 3rd session. Atone point he was looking at a book and he babbles something and she insisted he approximated "kitty cat". What he babbled sounded nothing like kitty cat. Then he was standing on the fireplace and babbled something else (that we hear a lot) and she insisted he approximated "jump". Again, it sounded nothing like jump. I don't think it was in response to her, either. I think he was just babbling. I can understand encouraging it to get him to make sounds, but to call it an approximation is a major stretch, IMO.
