I am cloth diapering my 10 month old daughter. I have been since she was 2 or 3 months old. I am due in May. I am thinking about starting this baby when it is born instead of waiting but I am having a hard time finding diapers that are the right size and not too much. My daughter was 6 lbs 1 oz when she was born. She went down to 5 lbs 10 oz at one point. The diapers I have start at 10 lbs. So I need a diaper that will work for 5lbs 10oz to 10lbs. We are also on a tight budget so I am looking for something that will not cost more then using disposable for that time frame. I also don't want to worry about trying to sell them.

Congrats on your pregnancy :)

You could always go with prefolds and covers while the baby is smaller and doesn't fit into the diapers you've been using for the older daughter. They're economical and easy to deal with (you can either use a snappi or just let the cover hold the diaper on). We used a combo of prefolds and kissaluvs size 0 fitteds while Ruby was small, I'd say it was 2-3 months before she fit into the one-size pockets we use currently. We had 6 or 8 covers, maybe 12-18 prefolds and half a dozen of the fitteds and we washed every 18-24 hours, so 2 dozen prefolds would probably be a good 2-day supply (give or take a few hours). And I bet you could get that for under $100 at a site like little lions.

We CDed from birth, and I mean that, the hospital used prefolds as burp cloths so we just brought a couple of covers (only a 24-hour stay after a vag birth) and a snappi, they did the washing and then DH got to teach all the nurses how to use the snappi. (and I do believe we "made off" with one of their prefolds! LOL) it wasn't for a while before she had a disposable and the first wasn't our choice, the LC insisted on it, despite us having a clean cloth at the ready...~sigh~ those LCs REALLY helped me (she says with a smirk, still using a shield for a 1 year old).

I gave birth to a 6 lb 5.5-oz-er.  I found even the small prefolds a little bulky BUT I would definitely agree with the Kissaluvs size 0.  (I use Bummis Super Whisper Wrap covers and love them - not one leak yet after 1 1/2 months).  My baby is now into size 1s but I find they're super-absorbent and fit teeny skinny legs well. ;0)  Once the baby gained a couple of pounds (which was only a few weeks!) prefolds were a great option and actually are now my favourite now that he's 11.5 lbs.  I use the BG 3.0s at night (but these didn't fit until around 10 lb) and mostly prefolds otherwise.  I know prefolds would work for STTN too!

We also started with a combo of Kissaluvs size 0 fitteds and prefolds (we had 12 of each) and 6 covers. This lasted for about 3 months on my skinny little guy.

Green Mountain Diapers has the best prefolds that actually FIT newborns. They have orange stitching on the edges and cost $21 per dozen.

We used Bummis Super Whisper Wrap newborn and Thirsties XS covers. I liked the Thirsties more, and DH liked the BSWW more. Oh, and I used the Snappi (2 is enough), but DH could never figure it out and the covers work both ways.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will go to prefolds with a couple fitted. Noelle is in prefolds during the day right now because they where easier to wash with my morning sickness. Jay is use to them and I like how well they work for her. I looked at little lions and they seem to have good prices. They also have the ones that are small enough for a small newborn.
