Parents with a Disability

I wanted to wish everyone here a Happy Holidays!  I'm new to this board.  I'm a new mom of a beautiful baby boy and I have CP.  Added to the CP, I've had a post-delivery issue of maybe a pinched nerve that has caused foot drop in my right foot.  I see the neurologist on Monday and hopefully he can figure out my problem and find a way for us to treat it.  I thought parenting a newborn with the CP alone would be a challenge but with the foot drop I can't walk without a walker and that makes it doubly hard.  But I don't regret a second of it since CJ is such a swet baby and he keeps me going.

I hope your foot drop and possible pinched nerve are temporary. I wear a brace (AFO) to help with my foot drop. Let us know how your visit with the neurologist goes.

Your Lil one is just darling!  And I am glad you found us.  I hope you find the support and/or advice you are looking for.  I to have CP, it is mild and I can walk just not long distances and I use a Wheelchair to take care of my 29 month old easier.  I also got adult onset seizures and have depression so I have many challenges but I am surviving because I have a little one that keeps me going.  I am currently, a Single SAHM as well so I'm on my own most the time with a toddler, not easy at times but I do it.  My parents help when they can so I can have a break so that helps a lot.  I was married to her daddy for 4 years before he decided to leave me on our 4th Anniversary (Christmas Eve) of 2003.  He and I had some issues and he just couldn't handle the responsibility of a disabled wife and a baby too.  I hope to get to know you better as well.
