Aging Parent of Special Needs Child
Greetings!
My name is Meredith Meilleur and I am a student at the Watts School of Nursing in Durham, NC. http://dukehealth1.org/watts/index.asp. As part of the curriculum this spring, I am required to present a topic during a Women’s Forum sponsored by Durham Regional Hospital. The topic I have chosen focuses on the issues faced by aging parents of special needs children.
My reason for writing to you is to ask for some guidance as to where I can locate such parents (websites, group forums, etc) and how I can gracefully approach them to interview them on their fears and frustrations.
If this is a tall order, I apologize. I’ve found a great deal of information regarding this topic, but I’m hoping to create a narrative that will put a voice to this growing issue.
