Before DD was born I'd been looking into cloth diapers when I stumbled across some EC info. I read through it, and thought it would be really neat to try, but once DD was born, I really didn't do much with it. I would sit her on a little potty bowl while I fed her once in a while, but that was about it.

THEN, one day we were having a discussion about EC in my iVillage playgroup, and one of the ladies that I'm close to said she thought it would never work, so I took it as a challenge, and started the next day!

I've only been doing this for just over a month, but most days DD uses the potty more than she uses diapers. We do still haved some misses here and there, but I've got some big 'diaper changing' pads that she'll usually play on, and that keeps it really easy to clean up! :) I'm loving it!

Wow that's really great!  I guess it's a personal preference, would you rather change diapers or wipe up an occasional puddle of pee?  I hated using 20 wipes just to get a poop plastered diapered butt clean.  I was much happier just letting him go in the potty.  It's so much more sanitary and my house didn't reek like dirty diapers.

After the first few poopy diapers I decided that wasn't for me so at 2 wks of age I saw that DS was grunting, I took off his diaper and held him on the pot.  I think we both had a huge sigh of relief!  I decided this was much more humane than forcing him to mess himself for 2-3 years.  A few months later I happened by Laurie's IPT book at the library.  It's what I had already been doing but I learned a lot and kept going.  We still used diapers while on long car rides etc but if we were home we didn't.  It was a $ saver, a time saver and DS was so happy to use the potty.  I was really glad we didn't have the tears and power struggle of conventional potty training that I saw my poor friends go through with their kids.
