Hello. I am new to posting but not to the board. I have been using all of your great advise to help me through and to encourage me to keep pumping. I have been EP since my LO was two weeks old. She was tongue tied and couldn't suck properly. My LC told me how to power pump and I got my supply to 60 ounces pumping 8 time a day. I have been cutting pumps and haven't seen that much of a loss in ounces. This past week I
dropped to 5 pumps a day and my ounces have dropped a lot. I want to get down to 4 pumps but I don't want to get less than 50 ounces a day. My goal is to pump for a year. Does anyone know how to maintain or increase supply when dropping to 4 pumps a day. I am up for power pumping if it will help
but for how long should I go it. Thanks for any help. Shari.

Hi
Why do you need 50 oz/day? Just curious

I did not lose supply until I dropped to 3x/day - I went from 48 oz to 36 oz. But it took a couple of weeks to see the decrease

I don't power pump so I can't help you there. I just make sure I drain completely every time by using hand expression after I pump.

If you are going to pump for a year you may want to not worry about having so much frozen. Fresh is best!

Hi Liz. I want to give her BM for a year. Not pump for a year. I want to avoid formula if I can. So my freezer stash will come into play at the end of the year. Maybe I can pump till 8 months then use my freezer stash to get to a year. Did you ever cut our your midnight pump. I have been pumping at 10 and then at 4 or 5. Should i add back in the 1 or 2am pump.

How quickly did you drop and did you add minutes to your other pumps?

I'm also at 3 months (and hoping to pump wean early) and just dropped to 4 pumps. I dropped to 55 ounces the first few days, but was religious about water intake and compressions and got right back up to 60-64 by the end of the first week.

Hi there

How is everything going? Are you getting more rest without that midnight pump? How is your supply?

I spread my pumps out evenly, so my schedule changed everytime I dropped a pump. But if you never want to pump @ midnight again I'm sure you can come up with a schedule that works for you.
