So I posted a week ago and said that I bled into my milk for the first time and of course freaked out. I also passed this little clot like thing. Well every day since then I have bled into my milk at least once. I don't have any cuts or tears on my nipple. And I can tell when I am pumping that it's coming from inside. What is this??? I went to the doctor the day ofter it happened the first time and he said I have mastitis. And in all honest I don't think I do. I'm not in any pain except the regular soreness from pumping. But I did have a bacterial inf. so i took the antibiotics anyways. I hate this cause I have to throw out about 5 ounces a day. Grrrr! I know I don't have to but it's just gross to me. Any ideas on what this could be?????

I also had blood and "gelatin-like" or stringy stuff in my milk at one time.  I had to strain my milk.  It was disgusting, but I noticed that if I forgot to take my prenatals that I didn't have that problem.  I stopped taking my prenatals and the problem corrected itself real fast.  If it's not vitamins then I don't know what it could be so hopefully someone else will chime in.  BTW, when I went to dr for my follow up visit I felt silly wondering if it could be the vitamins, but apprently I'm not the only one and I was told that it could be because of all the iron...my body doesn't like much iron to begin with but we had spent so much time during the pregnancy trying different vitamins looking for one I liked that I thought I would continue to take them while pumping...so much for that idea :/

Hi there! Pretty scary seeing blood in your milk, I know. This happened to me once, with a big blood clot. I remember I thought it was especially weird (as if blood in BM is not weird itself) that there was no pain associated with it. Just pumping and watching TV just fine and then all of a sudden, glance down and blood all in the bottle. Freaky! Good thing DH was there.

I bumped an old post up that I found when this happened to me. It's in the mommy and baby issues section. Someone spoke to a breast specialist about also having this issue. Apparently if you are a HVP it may have something to do with new vessels being formed/old vessels breaking. Are you a HVP? I never was and it happened to me anyway. I think this specific info is in the 5th message of this post.

Does your Dr not seem too concerned about it? I guess you could maybe relax a little then. However, like I said it only happened to me once. If it is happening to you everyday maybe you could see a breast specialist (perhaps one that is very familiar with EPing, if he/she exists, lol) I'm sure there are other reasons that this could be happening, some serious and some not so serious. It never hurts to be extra cautious if you are worried and get the serious things ruled out.
