i noticed a couple of bottles i had in fridge (only for a day or two) smelled and tasted funny...kinda soapy?  and they were well rinsed so not literally soapy.  is this the way bad milk smells/tastes and if so why would it go bad in fridge.  the only thing i can think of that maybe i should not be doing is adding warm milk to cold milk.  sometimes if i just have an extra ounce i add it to botttle already in fridge.  could this cause it?/

Excess lipase can make milk smell soapy. It's fine for the baby as long as he doesn't reject it. You can google lipase or check the "beginner's guide". http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-ppexcluspump&msg=31119.1&x=y

I don't mix warm milk with cold milk. IMO this would shorten the life of the milk. Especially if you are not going to use that milk that day.

But the soapy smell is likely lipase. To me it smells metallic - almost all my frozen milk has a lipase issue. It will not affect baby and as long as he takes it you don't need to worry about it.

A pp'er already mentioned this but I'd consider lipase as well.  I had big issues with this with Parker, though not fridge supply, but whatever was frozen was affected.  I think this could be a good option for the issue.

You also shouldn't be mixing warm and cold - a good tip is putting the small amount of bottle into the fridge as well and adding them together once the milk has chilled to the same temperature.  I doubt that's what's causing the issue (mixing) but it's a general rule not to do that anyway!
