how to keep milk frozen on a plane

I was able to fly from Germany to CA with 150oz of frozen milk and it was still completely frozen when I got there 24 hours of travel time later. Here's what I did:
-Get an insulated cooler bag (or 2)-- The bag has to zip shut. If you use a cooler, make sure it closes very tightly.
- get a bunch of newspaper and crumble it up as tight as possible.
- Line the bottom and sides of the bag with as much newspaper as you can. Pack it as tight as you possibly can.
-Place your milk (layered) ontop of the newspaper.
- Again, pack as much newspaper as you possibly can ontop of the milk.
- At this point, if you have room, place a couple of frozen gel packs ontop of the newspaper. This isn't really essential, I just did it cause I'm like that.
The key is to insulate the milk as much as you can and get that paper as tight as you can. Don't use any ice, as it is warmer than the frozen milk and will thaw the milk.
I wasn't very attached to the milk, so I went ahead and checked it in my luggage. My thought was that it is cooler under the plane and I didn't want to lug an extra bag in my carry on. If you do check it, you run the risk of your luggage getting lost and your milk not making it to you before it thaws though.
There's a link w/ how to do this that can probably explain it better. I'll try to find it and post back.
Good luck!
