Olivia's ped prescribed Domperidone for me after my supply nosedived (we figure this is what happened with my older 2 around the same age) and she started loosing weight. We since being on it, Olivia's gained weight well and is eating well (I 99% nurse, but am pumping for later) and I definitly feel fuller, but I still can't pump! Even in the morning I'm still only getting 2oz max and this is when I'm engorged cause the Domperidone works a little too well overnight. I used to be able to get up to 5oz on one side. I pump while nursing cause I find I get a better pump that way. I've tried compression but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Any ideas?

Since your DD is gaining weight better now, could it be that she is also just a better nurser now and getting more out at each feeding and that's why you are pumping that much less?

Since you nurse 99% of the time your body likely realizes that need more than pumping which could be another reason why you are getting less.  Some women, especially those that BF'd as well, have better response to a baby's suck vs a pump.

Oh yes, Olivia is deff gaining well so I know I'm producing more. I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but I've been pumping also since 2 weeks pp and I used to get upto 5oz per side. And even when I'm engorged I still now will only get an ounce or so.

I had this problem and i think it is do to the fact that you are also nursing .. so your body is used to baby sucking which has way more suction then the electic pump.. what kind of pump are you using.. i found for me.. i needed to use a manual pump.. i did have and electic but my manual pump works as good as a hosptial grade pump.. i use the Lansinoh pump and it is great i can empty in 10 to 15 min.. but with the electic double pump it took me 30 - 40 min.. and i still had to use the manual to get the rest out.  you may have to go that route.

are you doing these compressions.

I think you may be right. I remember seeing someone talking about getting an ounce or 2 out by hand after pumping. Well tonight I went to pump and got maybe a teaspoon after 20 minutes (I used to get 5oz in that time!). I tried by hand and it just sprayed out! It hurt cause I never do it by hand but I got an ounce in 1/2 the time it took me to get less than a tsp!

Right now I am using a Walmart single electric. I used to have an older model which I loved, but when it died, the brand discontinued the older model :( Maybe I'll pick up a manual pump and give that a try. I do compressions, but I'll check out your links. Thanks!
