Ezzo Parenting Debate

My brother's church is using the Ezzo parenting curriculm. He and my SIL are not taking the class and aren't really thrilled with what they hear about it. I have directed them to ezzo.info for more information.

Anyway, they said that as part of the kit of materials you can buy for this class is something the class leaders have called a "whacker." It is apparently a rubber rectangular thing people can use to spank their kids. Is this commonplace for Ezzo classes? If so, I am repulsed. I just can't think of anything else to say about it.

Any information about this?

I can tell you that years ago the Ezzos were very careful not to sell anything like a whacker or to have the appearance of selling them. But I was able to get a whacker (this was actually about 12 or more years ago) through one of the original contact moms who was a friend of mine. Someone within the tight Ezzo circle in LA was making them and selling them very quietly on the side. Several years later (probably 7-10 years), I got another one, this time through some GFI leaders who knew someone who was making them. I have never heard of it being anything done officially. But I'm sure there are still people who make and sell them quietly within GFI circles. And somehow, they always seem to be called "whackers." And the source was always kept totally private - and everyone was very careful that they only got into the hands of people who had completed GKGW.

As an aside, ours hasn't been used in YEARS (thankfully), but I realized that I actually still have one! Yikes!

Actually, they are sold on-line. The folks at www.parentinginjesusfootsteps.com (.org?) have been trying to get them to stop making them for a while.

Can you direct me to website where they sell them? I can't imagine how one would market such a thing. This is very disturbing to me.
