I tend to overanalyze everything, but...
I was wondering how much time an 8-month-old infant should be allowed to crawl freely each day? I know that it's not good to leave a kid in an exersaucer or stroller for hours at a time, but is there any suggested amount of exercise our little tykes should be getting each day?

Thanks!

You're on the right track for not spending a long time in stroller and exersaucers. :) There's not a set time that I've read. As long as you're letting your Wee One go, life should be good! Oh, and I did find this about swimming/exercises for babies. http://www.familyresource.com/parenting/child-safety/infant-swim-and-exercise-programs

They should have as much free time as possible :) I dont think there is a set time, but I know most people reccomend that babies dont spend any more then 30min to 1 hour in the exersacuer every day, but again, that varies from mom to mom and doctor to doctor. As for the stroller, I guess it depends on if you are walking with the stroller or using it as a place to keep baby contained.

Between running the errands with mom or dad, being in the highchair to eat, napping, going for walks, playing in the exersacuer, some babies dont get a ton of time to just crawl around on the floor, but it is very important.

i don't think there's a set amount of time for exercise but i think the more you let your little one crawl around and practice his skills whether that be crawling, standing, cruising, walking etc, the less he'll want to do it when he's supposed to be sleeping! i don't think it's good to let a baby sit in an exersaucer or stroller for long periods of time mainly because if they don't get to practice their skills during the day, they'll want to do it in the crib at night! besides, lots of floor time is good for their muscles, it tires them out and lets them explore their world.
