The doc says that my 3 week old is probably colicy b/c her tummy is upset a lot and we can't put her down for more than 5-10 mins w/o her screaming even when she is sleeping. My question is is there anything I can do that will help me lay her down while she is sleeping. It has been really hard to get anything done around the house.

My daughter was terribly colicky too.  I did rent a video from my library called "The Happiest Baby on the Block."  I got it after the colic had finally stopped and was looking for help getting her to sleep at night and take naps.  I really wish I would have seen this when she was first born.  Here is their Website http://www.thehappiestbaby.com/    I hope this helps.

Hi,

Welcome to the Baby's First Year board! Colic is so hard, for baby and for parents.

Have you tried swaddling your little one?  I always found that it was easier to lay down my boys when they had fallen asleep swaddled.  I think the closeness of the swaddle blanket helps them to feel like they are still being held. There are some great swaddling blankets you can buy that really help keep them tight and secure as well.

I did an iVillage search to find some more ideas for you and found this article.  Hopefully it will give you some more ideas.

Tips for coping with colic- http://parenting.ivillage.com/baby/bhealth/0,,3p9d,00.html

Best of luck to you and your little one. Keep us posted!

Is something bothering her? Is she BF or FF?  If she is BF maybe watch what you are eating, something could be passing through to her and causing gas, sore tummy etc. Our DD was allergic to dairy and we didnt know for the first few months, but it defiantly caused alot of sleepless nights, vomiting, and runny diapers before we figured it out. Same for formula, it could be the type you are using that doesnt sit well with her.  Good luck :)
