I am curious to see what everyone's thoughts are on the vaccine. I know this can be a hot topic.

For me personally right now I am not getting the vaccine. I am just not comfortable with the amount of time it was produced and without knowing if there will be any effects on the baby.

What is your thoughts?

I am waiting for it to be available - hopefully in November, but then i will definitely get it. My doctor recommends it and i think it makes sense.  I already got the "regular" flu shot and that was fine.

I am trying to track it down. None of my docs know when they'll get it. I got the regular flu shot a few weeks ago.

H1N1 isn't being produced any faster than the seasonal flu shot. Every year they make it with new virus strains, on demand. The H1N1 is made the same way, just with this particular virus strain. If they'd identified the virus about a month earlier, it would have been in the seasonal flu shot, instead they have to play catch up, with a separate vaccine.

My doctor highly recommended it.  I received the shot today, I was able to get the preservative free shot (no Thimerosal/mercury preservative) from my OBGYN.  My Doc also recommended if I was not able to get the preservative free to get the one with the preservative because the risk is higher without the vaccine. I work with in a child care center with children from 0months-6years.  My classroom has 2 year olds and early 3year olds.  SO not only was it important for me and my baby but it was also important for the children in my classroom/school.
